Body Detox Programmes / Diet and Nutrition Consultancy

Some basic guidelines and advice

  • Consume water, herbal teas and caffeine free drinks. 
  • Eat fresh fruit and vegetables.
  • It is beneficial to have fresh vegetable or fruit juice daily (on an empty stomach) made using a juice extractor.
  • Consume pulses and grains (such as short grain brown rice, quinoa and millet).
  • A Diet of approximately 50% raw vegetarian food (salads, raw vegetables, raw oats, fruit and nuts etc) will also assist in colon cleansing.
  • If bread is consumed then use stone ground whole meal bread in moderation.  It is best to avoid wheat.
  • A few facts about wheat: Sticky and therefore contributes to constipation; it is the most difficult grain to digest; it is highly hybridized; many people have intolerances to the gluten in wheat; it often contributes to weight gain and bloating.
  • Whole meal rye bread is preferred to bread made from wheat.  Health foods shops and supermarkets stock it.
  • It is better to eat organic foods.
  • Observe proper food combining rules; see Fit For Life, by Harvey and Marilyn Diamond.
  • Always eat fruit on an empty stomach.
  • Avoid drinking excessive liquids with meals as they dilute the digestive juices and weaken digestion.
  • It is best to drink liquids at least half an hour before a meal and at least one hour after a meal.
  • If you choose to eat during the morning or after 8.00pm then it is best to eat lightly during these times.
  • It is best to avoid dairy products.
  • Alternatives to milk are oat milk, rice milk and almond milk.   
  • Aspartame is a chemical sweetener that should be avoided. 
  • Soya produce is best eliminated (http://www.westonaprice.org/).
  • Avoid refined sugar including brown sugar.  Refined sugar is addictive and is bad for health. 
  • Avoid eating tinned, packaged, refined and processed foods.
  • Avoid drinking tea and coffee.
  • Fruit juices in cartons are best avoided (particularly avoid cartoned orange juice as It acidifies the body).
  • It is ideal to have only vegetarian foods during colon cleansing.  


Causes of Constipation
Inadequate water; wrong foods and food combinations; lack of fibre in the diet; putting off having a bowel movement; certain drugs; sedentary life style; stress and emotional problems; imbalance of intestinal flora (good bacteria) in the colon; yeast overgrowth; inherited weakness; weak muscles of the colon; parasites; prolapsed out of shape colon.
